The Randazzo Family: Creative Theatre Experience

We've been waiting for a couple of years for Maddi to be old enough to be a part of this magical thing known as Creative Theatre Experience. It is held at Olympia High School and is separated into a couple sections, one of which is Arts Festival for students entering 1st - 6th grade, which Maddi was a part of.

We registered back in February and their 100 spots filled up in no time...we were so happy to have gotten in before it filled up. It was a four week program that culminated with an amazing production performed three days in a row. They began the production with an all group song, "Waiting for the Light to Shine", then the first two plays, "The Emperor's New Clothes"and "Nanny Goats Gruff", intermission, the last two plays, "A Mixed-Up Fairy Tale", and "Arf!", and then an all group song that traditionally closes the production, called, "Imagination Song".

Maddi played Big Bertha Lee in "Nanny Goats Gruff" and was amazing! She was the heroine of the show, which we didn't realize until we watched the play for the first time. In addition to learning her lines and rehearsing for these performances, Arts Festival also focused on learning songs, playing games, and art. It was just an all around great experience for Maddi, who the whole time was surrounded by caring and nurturing peers, high school/college interns, and adults. Brock and I both agree that it was just the best experience for her and we can't wait for her to be a part of it again next year.
