Happy Father's Day

Brock of course started out his Father's Day with a round of golf.  He played with my dad (who played for the first time in many months because of a back injury/surgery/recovery), uncle, and Andy.  He came home and napped, then got up to host both sets of parents (which also includes Derek, Keith, and Jen).

Maddi's first OFFICIAL sleepover

Maddi has had sleepovers with Boo and Kahlen for a few years now and both households feel very comfortable with these at this point.  So, while sleepovers isn't a new thing to Maddi, having sleepovers with those who are not our next door neighbors is.  She has had two sleepovers with her school friend Addie, the first at Great Wolf Lodge back in March, and the second at her house.  The day after school got out, Maddi hosted her very own sleepover for her good friend Lydia.  They had a blast playing with each other, Boo, Kahlen, and Brody.  They had a yummy spaghetti dinner, chocolate cake dessert, more play, then movie night in the living room watching, "We Bought a Zoo".  Lydia, Maddi, and Brody conked out in the living room and Brock and I thought all was good, until we heard pitter patter footsteps to our room at midnight.  Lydia wanted her mommy and daddy, so we called and her mom came all the way out to pick her up.  For the most part, I would say a successful play date, but maybe we'll wait a bit longer for the sleepover part!
comfy and happy!

Last day of school

Last Day of School

Maddi was so excited for her last day of school.  I remember her bawling her eyes out on her last day at Mt. View because she knew she wouldn't be coming back.  This year, she was happy as a clam to be done with school, knowing she would stay in touch with the fabulous friends she's made and that she will be back in the fall.

This was also Mom's last day of school, but not just for the school year...indefinitely!  My students had already been helping me pack up, so I was for the most part done when school got out.  We of course had our 6th grade graduation, which was great.  People kept asking me how I feel (sad, excited, nervous, anxious, etc.).  As the end of any school year, I think teachers are almost more ready than the kids are to be done...I was no exception.  I didn't feel too sad, but these feelings may surface in September when everyone else is getting ready to go back to school and I'm not.  Then again, I may not feel sad at all...

First Day of School

Happy Birthday, Adrien!

On June 11th, Adrien Whitaker turned 1.  We love this kid! He is of course, adorable, but we also consider him a part of our family...especially since Maddi & Brody's very own Halmoni gets to watch him throughout the school year.   April and her niece, Paige did an amazing job planning and decorating for this Mickey Mouse themed party.  I wish I would have gotten picture of it :(

Getting caught up...

So, you'll notice my blog jumps from July 2012 to June 2013.  I fell so far behind in blogging, that I figured I'd just start again now (skip the last year) and once I get caught up and am current in my blogging, I can go back and start piecing together the last year.  I thought about just stopping, but one of the biggest benefits (for me) of blogger is being able to turn it into a scrapbook/photo album.  Since I'm HORRIBLE with photo albums, I figure I better at least stay on top of this so I not only have pictures for my kiddos, but also the stories that go behind them.

Here's to hoping I get ALL caught up...

Kevin's High School Graduation

The morning of Kevin's graduation, my cousin William came over for a little fishing before heading down for festivities with the rest of the family...

Spring Showcase #5

This was Maddi's 5th Spring Showcase and her last year in Pre-ballet.  It has been so amazing to watch  her grow as a ballerina.  When Brock picked her up backstage afterwards, Miss Stephanie (who she finally gets to have as a teacher in the fall for Ballet 1) told him how proud she is of Maddi and the little ballerina she has come to be.  She told him that her technique is impressive and she sees a lot of potential in Maddi.  How proud we were to hear that!  It's so nice to know that all the driving, classes, leotards, tights, picture days, rehearsals, showcases are paying off, but more importantly, that she still loves it!

Proud brother who stayed behind with the Kipfers...maybe he'll be able to sit through it next year!

Kenny Chesney, Eric Church Concert

On Saturday, June 1st, I was heading down to my parent's house to pick Brody up (after taking Maddi with me to help out backstage for her ballet studio) and I got a text from my next door neighbor, Jen McConnell, asking if I wanted to join her for a FREE Kenny Chesney concert at Century Link Stadium.  I knew of the concert and also knew that Eric Church was playing as well (who I was even more excited to see than Kenny Chesney).  I ended up leaving the kids at my parents', headed home to get ready and off we went.  I also knew that my cousins Diana & Julie were going to be there and seeing them is very rare, so I was excited to meet up them at some point.  Lo and behold, they were in the section RIGHT next to ours (we were in 118 and they were in 119).  We ended up sitting next to them for most of the concert.  Everyone that played put on an awesome show...I was so glad that Jen had the tickets and was able to take me!

It was a great night for an outdoor show!

Blurry, but only picture I have of these two for YEARS...so glad to be reunited with these girls.
