Indoor Soccer

Maddi played her first season of indoor soccer during the month of February.  It was a very quick season (no practices, just games each Wednesday night).  She was on a U-8 team (with girls as young as 6 years old) playing in a U-9 league (with mostly 10 year old girls).  Needless to say it was a brutal season for the Purple Panthers.  We were told we would be playing up, but one year and this was definitely by more than one year.  The other girls were all SO much bigger and for the most part more skilled.

However, there were more benefits than downfalls.  The girls learned to play tougher and Maddi showed us how fearless she could be on a soccer field.  While we knew she enjoyed playing in goal, she realized how much she LOVED to be in goal during this indoor season.  She generally would play in goal for half of each game.  It was so much fun to watch her, because the ball was ALWAYS on her end (being that the other team was always better).  As many goals that were let in, there were so many more that Maddi saved.  She showed such fearlessness (diving, falling, jumping, and aggressiveness).  Watching her play like that proved to me even more how much she is like Brock because she definitely doesn't get that from me!  She also played plenty on the field and by her last game, she looked like a little rockstar soccer player.  

It's so fun to watch her grow in this sport, season after season.  We can tell she doesn't just play because mom and dad did or because that's what she's done since she was two.  She really loves the sport, has fun with her friends, but also improves each and every season.  

We get about a two week break before outdoor, spring season begins!

Brody had a blast going to the indoor complex each week.  This particular day, he was dressed as a knight for most of the day and decided he needed to go to soccer with the costume still on.
