Spring Soccer

If our lives weren't busy before, it sure was this spring.  I felt like I had officially become a "soccer mom", toting both of our children here and there many days throughout the week.  Back in the winter when it was time to start signing up for spring soccer, I asked Brock if having both Maddi and Brody signed up would be too much for us, but we both agreed to go for it.  Here's what our schedule looked like (outside of working umpteenth hours a week between the two of us):

Mondays: Maddi soccer practice @ 6

Wednesdays: Maddi dance from 4-6

Saturdays: Maddi soccer game @ 10 & Brody soccer @ 3

Although it really was only 3 of 7 days, it felt like too much because outside of work, school, and the above, there is still so much going on in our lives.  

The good news is we eliminated Brody's soccer most weeks (not just because we felt like there was too much going on, BUT because we decided TWO is TOO early for Brody to play soccer...he wasn't listening to anyone and we continually had to chase him to the nearby playground and bring him back to the soccer field...TOO much STRESS!)

On a more positive note, Maddi had a great season and she's more of a soccer player than we thought.  Maybe it was having Daddy as her coach this time around, who knows?  I've always been bummed, thinking Brock would never get the opportunity to coach his own kiddos because of his crazy work schedule, but he committed and made it happen.  Luckily, we had this great set of parents on the team with a little coaching experience who filled in a couple times for practices when Brock was on call and had to stay late.  The great news is that he was able to make it to every single game.  He was a FABULOUS coach; obviously knows his soccer stuff, but also was so good with the kids.  He actually loved it so much, he decided we'd do it again in the summer...so, more to come on that...

Mommy took Brody to the nearby Safeway during practice one day and we just sat while he ate ice cream just to bide the time (since he runs a muck on the field!)

Practices and Games (for Maddi) were always at Rainier Vista Park, so we occasionally got to play on the toys before or after practices and games...
