Maisie is FIVE months old!

Maisie is now five months and I am still so confused as to how that much time has passed already (insert sad face).  However, it is quite amazing to watch her grow and change every day.  She is such an angel baby and she has now grown out of the one thing that has really stressed us out from the beginning with her...car seats/car rides!  What a difference a month makes...

How she is SLEEPING...

She still has the same sleep patterns which is okay because I'm used to the feeding or two overnight, but I was hoping by this point she might actually sleep through the night :/  Naps are usually short, but if we're having a good day, I might get a 2-3 hour nap from her in the middle of the day.  Bedtime is still around 9'ish, which is really nice that she stays pretty consistent about that.  She wakes up around 7:30 still, so that part is also very nice.  We've tried to put her in her crib a couple of times, but have found she just stirs and wakes up too often, so we just drag her right back into bed with us.  Clearly, she's used to that closeness that the crib doesn't give her, so we may be screwed there.

How she is EATING...

Well, we started her with baby steps on the solids after her four month visit, but have steadily progressed with lots of fruits and vegetables, rice cereal and snacks.  I'm sure she's still on the younger side for some of what we're feeding her, but if you saw how she eats and handles her business, you'd think she was ready for it all too.  She has started eating Baby Mum Mum crackers and the little Gerber snacks.  She still doesn't have teeth, but they both dissolve in her mouth and she has done extremely well with them both.  She has tried so many vegetables and fruits (avocado, peach, carrots, rice, banana, squash, sweet potatoes, peas, and the list goes on) and has loved them ALL...if you've got a spoon with something on it, she has absolutely no complaints.  She starts to go crazy as soon as she's figured out food is coming her way.  I've definitely noticed she doesn't nurse as much now, but that's not to say she isn't getting plenty of milk still.

What else about little Maisie?

...at the beginning of 4 months, she was SCOOTING when laying on her belly

...at the end of 4 months, she is SCOOTING backwards quite a distance, almost like she's ready to crawl!!

...right at 20 weeks, Maisie started rolling over both ways with consistency.  Now, when we put her on the floor in one spot, it's almost guaranteed she'll have moved somewhere completely different with her either rolling or scooting.

...she can pull her entire body weight UP while laying in her vibrating chair (!!)

...pulls her binky in and out of her mouth

...screams in fits when playing with us

...loves bath time still

...recognizes and loves play time/snuggle time with Maddi & Brody (one of my favorite things in this whole wide world is watching them interact with each other)

...starting to giggle a lot more.  It takes a little bit of work, but with each passing day, we're getting more and more giggles from her sweet little self.

...she is almost infatuated with her hands; she sticks her hands out in front of her and just stares and stares!

...getting used to the stroller and actually enjoys trolling around in them now

...she is a very predictable baby.  She does not fuss just to fuss.  She is definitely in need of a diaper change or a feeding if she's fussing.  But she is also the spoiled third child and LOVES attention and someone to play with her.  Lucky for us, she's got four other family members and between us all, someone is usually available and willing to play with her.

...she loves her Sophie Giraffe.  I never bought into its magic, but whatever crack has been sprinkled on it is okay with me.  Maisie will gnaw on her for minutes on end and gets giddy when she sees her.

...spit up is rare now; it's been exchanged for drool :)
