Box Garden

We decided we wanted to start box gardens this year. Last Sunday, Brock went to Great Western Supply in Tumwater and filled up the back of his Ram with compost. Because there is no way to get a vehicle down behind our house, where the boxes will be, and because it's all downhill, therefore near impossible for a wheel barrow to make it safely down, Brock had to make many, many trips by hand (2 bucket loads at a time). I shoveled, he made the trips. We were both pooped, figuratively speaking, by the end of the day. Maddi had a blast playing in the "poop" dirt and Brody was happy to snack in his wagon and watch.

With as busy as Brock's weeks are with work, we didn't have time to continue until Friday. He cut the wood pieces to make 4 feet by 4 feet boxes. We are making them 2 high, so will need to make 6 boxes, for 3 box gardens total. So far, with mowing the lawn, getting distracted by playing with the kiddos and Jeremy in the street, getting called in to work twice, we still have only gotten 1 total box done. We still need to do the other 2, and dig a little in the back to make a little flat land for the boxes, and then obviously fill with dirt and plant (the fun part!). We'll get there eventually...
