A few months back, Brock had the opportunity to take on the role as Interim Director of Imaging Services (Radiology). This was a great opportunity for him to take on more of an administrative role in the hospital. He has worked his tail off since taking that role and when the time came to interview for the permanent position, he kicked butt. Keep in mind, one of the qualifications for this position is to have at least a Bachelor's degree, which he does not. He has however, enrolled in WGU and plans to start working on his BA this June. Also keeping in mind that the job was not just handed to him; he was among a handful of candidates, but in the end, he impressed the hospital administration with the job he'd done as Interim Director and the way he was able to answer their tough questioning during his interview.
The best part of it all is that he is no longer on call. He has been tied to a pager for several years and it has really affected the quality of our family life. The other nice part is we get to see him dressed nicely every day...slacks and button up shirts. No more scrubs!
We are so proud of him. Being the director of such a large department in the hospital at age 34 is a huge accomplishment and one that he has worked VERY hard for and is well-deserved.
