Maeve's 1st Birthday, AKA Snowpocalypse 2012

On our way up to Maeve's 1st birthday party in Snohomish, the snow storm began...

We had no idea how bad it was until we got into the backroads of Snohomish and then as we approached the Nikonovs' driveway...

We enjoyed Maeve's birthday party...lots of food, presents, people, the kids stayed entertained. Maureen and Vitaliy on the other hand were busy making sure people were eating quick enough to leave the party so that they would not be snowed in. Many made it out okay, but for the few who left the house but couldn't leave Snohomish without a little help, Vitaliy, Pat, and Brock went out to pull them out of ditches or drive for them out of town. It was crazy!

Because Brock was helping out, by the time he got back to the house, it was late and it didn't make sense for us to try to leave on our long, snowy trek home, so we stayed for a sleep over.

Pat and the Ko's also stayed the night...it was a fun time. Especially for the guys, who drank beers and hot tubbed for hours on end. Us girls in the meantime of course stayed in and talked and talked and talked (mainly listened to Maureen who was so stressed out about putting forth all the effort for this amazing birthday party, just for people to either not be able to make it or to have to leave as soon as they got there, all because of this stupid snow storm).

No worries, Maureen...everything was amazing, from Maeve's adorable outfit, to the food, to the decorations, and the company. People who made it had a great time, even if they had to scramble out of there. The best news is that Maeve was none the wiser. She was happy to play Miss Social Butterfly for the day.

Unfortunately, I have no pictures from this historic day, so I will attach Maureen's post...
