Griffin Update

A few weeks ago, we found a new home for our English Bulldog puppy, Griffin.  For probably a month or so before, we had decided we were not going to be able to keep him for a few different reasons.  1.  He is deaf and it just made any type of training with him that much more difficult.  2.  For whatever reason, he could not get the house-training thing down...like, at all. 3.  He was a biter.  He gave Brody a few really good bites, the vet, and Brock.  We just decided ultimately this was not the type of dog we could make our family pet with that kind of behavior.  

Why did we keep him so long if we'd already decided we couldn't keep him?  Well, we were back and forth with the breeder to get her to take him back, while also refunding us.  This breeder claims she breeds sociable and healthy puppies and to us (and our vet, and the trainer we took him to), she clearly did not provide us with a sociable OR healthy puppy.  We really felt we should get our money back (these puppies are not cheap!) Well, ultimately she chose not to respond to our last e-mail, so we made a decision to find another home for him.  There will be actions we take against her business because of her decision, but in the meantime, we were able to find Griffin a wonderful home.  This is a great alternative to having to send him to a bulldog rescue which was what we thought we were going to need to do.  

Brock works with a younger gal, Lilly at the hospital who already has two English Bulldogs with her boyfriend.  Knowing everything we could share about him, they still decided they wanted to take him.  She said it is definitely different having a deaf bulldog, but he is doing good.  He plays and plays with the other two and hopefully is learning a ton from them too.  

As much as Griffin wasn't right for our family, he really is a good dog and could definitely work for a family that has the knowledge and time to devote to his special needs.  The only thing we were adamant about was that he not go to a home with small children, so this really just worked out perfectly.

Poor Maddi was devastated, but she is old enough to understand this was the best decision for our family and also for Griffin.
